TIME'S TOP 100 ALBUMS

Time Magazine recently released its list of the All-TIME 100 Albums Tosy and Cash listed which of the 100 he owned, so I figured, why not do the same.  At the least, it's a quick easy blog post.  It's no surprise that my list leans toward Soul and Hip-Hop.

"The College Dropout" - Kanye West

"Stankonia" - Outkast

"The Marshall Mathers LP" - Eminem

"My Life" - Mary J. Blige

"Ready To Die" - The Notorious B.I.G.

"The Chronic" - Dr. Dre

"The Low End Theory" - A Tribe Called Quest

"It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back" - Public Enemy

"Straight Outta Compton" - N.W.A.

"Paid In Full" - Eric B. and Rakim

"Sign O' The Times" - Prince

"Raising Hell" - Run-DMC

"Purple Rain" - Prince

"Thriller" - Michael Jackson

"Songs In The Key Of Life" - Stevie Wonder

"Born To Run" - Bruce Springsteen *

"Talking Book" - Stevie Wonder

"What's Going On" - Marvin Gaye

"Bitches Brew" - Miles Davis

"Are You Experienced" - The Jimi Hendrix Experience

"A Love Supreme" - John Coltrane

"Kind Of Blue" - Miles Davis

"Songs For Swingin' Lovers" - Frank Sinatra

"In The Wee Small Hours" - Frank Sinatra

And like Tosy did, here's a list of the albums on the list I plan to own one day, would like to own, or am curious about.

"Elvis: 30 No. 1 Hits" - Elvis Presley

"Kid A" - Radiohead

"Sunrise" - Elvis Presley

"Ok Computer" - Radiohead

"Endtroducing..." - DJ Shadow

"(What's The Story) Morning Glory" - Oasis

"Slanted and Enchanted" - Pavement

"Achtung Baby" - U2

"Out Of Time" - R.E.M.

"Paul's Boutique" - Beastie Boys

"The Joshua Tree" - U2

"Graceland" - Paul Simon

"Stop Making Sense" - Talking Heads

"The Great Twenty-Eight" - Chuck Berry

"One Nation Under A Groove" - Parliament/Funkadelic

"Rumours" - Fleetwood Mac

"Hotel California" - The Eagles

"Call Me" - Al Green

"Exile On Main Street" - The Rolling Stones

"The Harder They Come" - Jimmy Cliff & Various Artists

"Sticky Fingers" - The Rolling Stones

"Moondance" - Van Morrison

"Stand!" - Sly & The Family Stone

"Lady Soul" - Aretha Franklin

"I Never Loved A Man The Way I Love You" - Aretha Franklin

"Otis Blue" - Otis Redding

"Modern Sounds In Country & Western Music" - Ray Charles

"King Of The Delta Blues Singers" - Robert Johnson

"Here's Little Richard" - Little Richard

Some of those, I've heard songs from, but I don't have the entire album.  Others, I haven't heard at all, but I've heard songs from other albums by the artists and I'm interested in hearing what is considered their best work.  Still others, I simply think it would be nice to hear for the sake of curiosity.

Some artists and/or albums on the list, I don't have any real interest in hearing.  I can't stand Bob Dylan and would live very happily if I never heard another of his songs.  The Beatles are my most overrated musical act, and while I think their work is decent, I don't have to hear any particular song/album of theirs.  And a lot of the acts just don't appeal to me.

WEIGHTY MOONBEAM

No, I'm not stranded on an island, but you might guess I was if you based your assumption on the inactivity on this blog over the past three months.  Things are looking positive for a return to some sort of regularity in the near future.  I'm not stupid enough to promise near daily posts next week, but I think I can safely say there should be no more than a week between posts for the rest of the year.  If I get lucky, maybe more frequent posts will occur.  No promises, but we'll see.

The little Moonbeam is coming along quite nicely.  FYI, I call my son Sunshine because I often sung the song "You Are My Sunshine" to him when he was younger; we still sing it together.  Not wanting to break the tradition, I also sing it to my infant daughter, but I didn't want to use the word "Sunshine" because I feel that belongs to my son.  Thus, I altered the song a bit to sing "You are my moonbeam."  Now, I sometimes refer to my son as "Sonshine" and my daughter as "Moonbeam", and those are the names by which I'll refer to them in this blog.

Anyway, the little Moonbeam is filling out quite nicely.  I'd guess that she's approximately 14 pounds, which is a great weight for a three-month old baby.  I won't know the exact weight until her next pediatrician visit in two weeks.  I can't wait, because I've always enjoyed pediatrician visits, even when I was a child.

I never had that doctor's office anxiety that many kids had.  I also got over any aversion to needles at a very young age, because I had asthma and I was given so many injections that it wasn't anything to get excited over.  In fact, I looked forward to needles because I knew they represented relief from my asthma.  But I digress.

I have so many things to get to, but I don't want to shoot my whole load at once.  Besides, I don't have enough time to sit here and catch you up on the last three months right now.  Also, I have to leave something to write about next time.

Speaking of next time, I promise (no) I hope to have baby pictures up for the next go round.  Also, if anyone cares, I've updated some of the WATCHING, LISTENING, etc links below.
